I took over a hundred pictures on Christmas Day so here are some of the best. We start Christmas morning out by going to each of our kids house and see what are grandchildren got for Christmas. When we got to Brandi' and Sam's house we found the Stockton had a present for Grandpa. A nerf gun. Later that night he gave all his cousins one he had saved up his own money to buy them including his birthday money. He is awesome! We end the day at our house with a Christmas dinner and presents. The Festival of Trees (Another Aarons Errands)

Today was the day we set up for the Festival of Trees. we are doing a tree in memory of Aaron. It was a cold winter morning. But was warmed by all the good people working to make a small dream come true. Sam set the tree up for us. Brandi was so excited she couldn't sleep last night. Jody, Lesa, Stacy and Lauri all stopped by to help. Of course Grandma Vicki and I were there for the duration. It was a beautiful day to share with friends and family. We were pleased with the results of everyone's hard work. We loved using the inspiration form the painting by Elspeth Young

Cowabunga Bay

I had promised to take the kids to Galabonga Bay for the summer. When Stockton had his bike accident it delayed everything because he had to stay out of the sun. I think they had a great time. Okay I am going to try and catch up here. Here were the highlights of July. I got to take a three day class from Sharon Zambito and Jennifer Dontz both have been on the Ultimate Cake off. I had most of Sharon's DVD's. I didn't know as much about Jennifer but I have learned to love her! She is one of the most helpful people in the industry. They both are amazing. The class was in Mainstee Michigan. I had never been to this state I got to see quit a bit because I flew to Travers City and than I had to drive about an hour to get to my distination. I stayed in a Cabin on Jennifer's property. It was beautiful.

I recently had to give a lesson and I searched the general conference talks trying to decide what general conference talk to use for my lesson. I ran on to a talk that was very powful because it was written in 1982 but I could have swear they were talking about 2010. The talk was called "The Celestial Nature of Self-reliance" by President Marion G. Romney
Second Counselor in the First Presidency

In his talk he recites this article from the Readers Digest written 1950
"In our friendly neighbor city of St. Augustine great flocks of sea gulls are starving amid plenty. Fishing is still good, but the gulls don’t know how to fish. For generations they have depended on the shrimp fleet to toss them scraps from the nets. Now the fleet has moved. …

“The shrimpers had created a Welfare State for the … sea gulls. The big birds never bothered to learn how to fish for themselves and they never taught their children to fish. Instead they led their little ones to the shrimp nets.

“Now the sea gulls, the fine free birds that almost symbolize liberty itself, are starving to death because they gave in to the ‘something for nothing’ lure! They sacrificed their independence for a handout.

Day Eleven

I had to take a picture of the window in our Hotel. I looked at it a lot when I couldn't sleep at night. It gets light really early there. It was a nice little room we stayed at the Quality Inn at Buckingham Palace. It was small but very clean and the staff was great. We were not there much so we really didn't need anything more. From the time we left our hotel room until we drove up to our drive way it took about twenty hours. We did have a couple of hours lay over in New York. Our plans are to take the grandkids that are nine and older next year to New York. I will have three that will be that age and my sister has two. I guess if that is going to happen i better get to work!!!!

We spent the day gathering gifts to take home enjoying a nice lunch. We ended the day by going to the Broadway Show Love Never Dies. It definitly wasn't a Phatom but it was okay a bit disappointed.

Day Nine visted Kew Gardens and the Crown Jewels

Day Nine we went back and visited the crown jewels I couldn't take a picture but they were amazing. We also visited Kew Gardens it is one of the worlds larges garden. I prefer a more formal garden so I didn't enjoy it as much as a I did Hamilton Palace garden. I do have to say though one of the thing i enjoyed the most is just spending time with my sister. She is a great sister!

Day Seven and Eight

We decided to check out the markets. We found the Portobello Market close to KnottinghamHill. I loved this market it was a lot of fun. We also went to the Camden Market which was fun but after going to Portobello it really didn't compare. We did find some cool jewelry and purses at both Markets. At Camden we had a pedicure done by these little fish. You put your feet in the water and they eat all the dead skin off our feet. It was an interesting experience. At Portobello market I found some very neat antic picture frames. We ended the day by going to see the Broadway show "Billy Elliot" I was disappointed I did not find it appealing

Oh it just came to me so I better write it down. Paris... we rode the train to Paris. We rode the train to Pairs and it only took abut 2 hours. it was a lot of fun. We seen a few of the major sights and went shopping.

You know the biggest reason i keep a blog is for me. i have the worst memory. Because i didn't write down what we did each day I am already forgetting. Sometimes i think they blog can seem superficial because the outside world is looking in. I have been thinking about making it private because why bore the rest of the world with the things you do in your life. But i think it is fun for my grand kids so I do it I apologize to the rest of the world.

But back to trying to think what i did the fifth day. By my pictures I think we went to Hamilton court and Windsor Palace. This was actually one of my favorate things to do. I loved the little village around Windsor Palace. I loved loved the gardens of Hamilton. You can see them on my garden blog. Ok it going to take me a couple of days to figure our what we did day six

Fourth Day in England

We visited the City of Canterbury. We found a plaque in the cathedral of one of our relatives. I had to take a picture. It was a charming city. We also visited the Leek Castle which I was amazed how good of shape it was in. I guess it has been lived in as recent as the last 15 years. It has a mont around the castle just what I envision a castle to be like. We also visited the Cliffs of Dover which meet up against the English Channel. It was another fun day.

Third day in England

We went to York on our Third Day. We rode the train in First Class, I was surprised to find it very delightful. The scenery was lush and green with rolling hills very beautiful. We had done some geneolgy before we left and found that on our four grand parents line we had traced their lines back to the mid 1600's where they all had came from England. We found our selves wondering why they would want to leave such a beautiful country. York is was built in the 13th century. They built a wall around the city. The above picture was taken while we were walking on the wall. It was fun to look down into the back yards and see the beautiful gardens. They had fun shops and boutiques there we found a few treasures to take back. We took a hop on hop off bus tour that was to last until 1900 hours and we were to be back to the train station. However the buses quit running and 1700 hours and we found ourselves stranded with no way to get back to the station. It took us a while to figure that out. But we walked in the rain and had a good time. We finally ran into the area they parked the buses and asked that someone take us to the train station. We paid them 10 pounds and they were very happy to do so. We found that the people in England are very kind and we enjoyed them very much.

Bike Helmets

What a week! Go to Brandi blog and read about my sweet Grandson. Stockton had an accident this week that was a nail bitter for a while. We are so thankful he is going to be okay.

I just want to remind everyone out there to please wear their helmets! I know they are a bit uncomfortable but ask Stockton how uncomfortable he is today and how much he will miss out on this summer and he had his helmet on. It was the unprotected parts of the fact that got hurt. The helmet was in take. I am so grateful that even though his mom said he could only ride the mountain bike for 5 minutes he took the time to put his helmet on! We sure love him and want him to get better soon!

First two days in England

The first day in London we spent on getting our prepaid phone cards. It was quit a deal. We bought a phone for 14 pounds (approx. $21 us) and put 30 pounds on them. It only cost 6 pence a min to call home (9 cents us). Even though we called home three- four times a day we still didn't spend the full 30. We also got our oyster cards. The oyster card will let you ride the subway, bus (which they call coach), train and the clippers. We also walked around Victoria station which was just a few blocks from our Hotel. We ended our evening on the Second Day by seeing the Broadway show Wicked

England is 7 hours ahead of us so it took me some time to adjust to the change actually about four days my sister adjust after the first day. The second day we went and seen the Towers, Big Ben, Buckingham Palace and St Pauls Cathedral (Princes Diana was married here)

We also had Tea and scones at the department store called Harrads Department store. this is oldest department store in England

We had a great time. Next day we are headed to York a 13th Century City and we are going by train.

I love to go to Thanksgiving Point in the Spring to see the Tulip Festival. The Tulips were beautiful this year. Another fun attraction was a mother goose was sitting on a nest and an owl was nesting up by the water falls. For FE we celebrated St Patrick's Day. We always have a treasure hunt. Ours is a little different it starts out with a picture to a location they find the location and there will be another picture to the next location. I am a bit behind. Last weekend we got to have sleep over with our little Crowthers. We had a great time. They told me they read the Book of Mormon every night before they go to bed Skyler said they were in Alma. So we read the story of King Benjemin and Alma. It was a lot of fun.

We had a good time Saturday. We put a lot into one day. Basket ball game, breakfast and McDonalds. We had to go get Gavin some new Scriptures. Braiden had a birthday party so he passed it over. Ady, Gavin and I went on a hike to try and find some signs of spring. We didn't have much luck. We got a new Wii game so Gav tested it out why Ady went to our down stairs kitchen and came up with a new buttercream icing called vaple? She loves it.
We went to a movie and out dinner. I think they had a good time! Need to take the other grandkids out for a day now.

A weekend of growth

I went out to the basin to see my parents this weekend. Can you believe I forgot my camera. I wished I would have had it. My dad was sick with a cold. I spent Friday with my sister Vickie and Barbara and my brother Twain visiting with our parents. Saturday Barbara and Mom and I went to Neola to visit an Aunt and Uncle. I learned that I had a great great great great grandfather who was a stone cutter for the Salt Lake Temple and had 7 wives and 46 children. All 7 wives had their own home. Can't imagine? I also learned I had a great great great grandmother who walked accross the plains at the age of 7 hearding calves. My Gavin is 8 today I can't imagine him having to do that nor any of my grand children.

I came home Sunday and made the grand kids a little Valentine present it was fun to see them on Monday . I love visting my grand children.

Did you notice how pretty it was outside the last few days? I took this picture outside my house about 5:40 and it was still day light! I am so excited to end this long cold winter. We haven't had a lot of snow but it has been a long dark cold winter.

I think the reason it has been so dark is because the things going on in the world. The recession continues and I watch people around me and how it effects people. I know my job has been greatly impacted by the recession. The poor people in Haiti. But of course what we have been going through, the loss of our 9th grand child. Don't misunderstand I have felt the spirit and much comfort and I am so thankful for all the support people have given my daughter and her family. I keep thinking all the love and support will stop, but it has been a month since he passed away and the support keeps coming for her and her family.

The thought of spring brings more hope. The hope of a healing people in Haiti, an improved economy and hope of healing broken hearts for the loss of our Aaron. I think in this difficult time in our lives there is so much opportunity to serve. What great blessing can be found in service, such happiness can be found. Anyone reading this to day look around and see if there is someone in need. Even if it is just to give some encouraging words to someone that needs a lift. But mostly it is just my family that reads my blog, so I say to them thank your for your goodness. Thank you for lefting each other and being there for each other. Thank you for the good that you do for others. Keep up the good work!

She was disciplining him with the recent death in the family he has heard a lot of adults give good advice. He thought he would use some of these kind words other have said. In the middle of her discussion where she was discipline him he said 'Mom take a deep breath we can work through this" what could she say after that...

The veil is thin between heaven and earth. We only had an hour with our Aaron Samuel Jensen. But it was an amazing experince I will never forget. In that hour we had two brothers that was so excited to meet Aaron Samuel. They loved him and read stories to him. They hugged him in their blankets and they kissed him good bye.

Thank you everyone for your prayers! Everything that Brand and Sam had hoped for was able to happen. Aaron Samuel Jensen was a beautiful little boy. His older brothers Stockton and Preston were able to hold him. They were so cute with him. Even though it was almost one in the morning when we left the hospital the boys were still being so sweet and cute and kind. The grandparents were able to hold him also. It was like holding a piece of heaven in your arms! Loving Aunts and Uncles called and knew he was alive and gave their wishes. But knew there was not time to get there. Brandi and Sam were amazing! They were so thankful they had this time with their third son and that the other sons were able to share that time with them.

The holidays are over with. That was one of Brandi's goals to see if she could get through the holidays before she delivered Aaron. She is at the Hospital todaoy and we are expecting her to deliver some time today. The boys spent the night. They had a rough night they both woke up every few minumtes, but they didin't complain or say a single word they would just try and go back to sleep. I sure wish I could take this all away from them. But we know Hevenly Father knows what best for us so we will put this in his hands.

I will keep you posted. Brandi is hoping that Aaron will live just a few minutes long enough for them to hold him and give him a blessing and a name. If she can do that she will feel she did everything she could for him.

I have some of the cutest neighbor girls. They have been wanting to come over and make a cake with fondant. I told them during the Christmas break I would have my grand daughters come over and they could make cakes.. Stockton came by so we had him join us. This is the end results beautiful cakes!!

Preston had a great birthday. I think his favorate present was from Aunt Jody. He had asked her to give him magic potions. He got rat poision (pretend), frog guts and more great potions along with a sorcers hat. All of his cusins from both sides of the family were there oh except the Nault they had to leave early.

It was a fun Saturday with lots to do. Ady spent the night. I had two cakes to get done. Poor Ady only got cereal for breakfast. At 1:00 oclock I took her for lunch. Mckenzie and Skyler stopped by so they went with us (I didn't know Grandpa had already taken them to lunch) Ady wanted to go to Chuck a rama. So they three of them ate up!

Daison and the boys stopped by Saturday night while Aleisa worked. We go to watch Preston and Stockton while Brandi and Sam went out to dinner. I love it when I get to see all my grandkids.

Ady class sang at the hockey game the other night. Gavin and Braden spent the night with some friends so they were not there. Cameron sleep through the first half. Ady spent the night with us. We got up early the next morning and started working on cakes

It was fun watching the grand kids make the ginger bread houses. There was a bit of compeition going on between Gavin and Skyler. Brandon was much more careful and thoughtful with his selections. Stockton was great to help Cameron. Ady and Mckenzie worked to gether. Aunt Brandi and Aron made the big ginger bread house.

Our little Aaron's quilt is done! Thanks to so many. I purchased the fabric and binding with the direction of Brandi. Vicki's friend suggested someone to quilt it and then her friend Nancy paid for the services. Trudy Nelson put the binding on and again would not let us pay her. Thank you it looks beautiful!

This pretty much says what I am thankful for. I wasn't very good at taking pictures this year! Stockton is getting to that age were he doesn't want his picture taken. My kids who I am very thankful don't like me to take their pictures. I usually go ahead and take them, but I guess I was'nt up for the resistance this year. Just know that I am thankful for them all including my husband!

Do you remember when your kids were young and they came home from school devastated from something that someone said or did. That feeling that came over you how you wanted to take this away. Little did you know that this was only the beginning and that there were be so many many things in their lives that you would want to take away for them. As they get older the things get bigger and some times the pain is so great that you can hardly bear to watch.

This morning I am reflecting back on my four kids t and remembering so many times. But of course Brandi's situation is most fresh in my mind and it is so hard to not be able to fix it or make it all go away.

Humanitarian Project

We put together some Humanitarian kits. This includes tooth brushes, soup, wash clothes, tooth paste, etc. I had the grandkids that came over this last Sunday help. They were so funny they keep thinking that they needed a comb or a tooth brush. I wanted them to remember that we need to help people. I am not sure ether they really understood what we were doing. We have been planning for about six months for my whole family to go to Disney Land.There are 16 of us now. With Brandi's news it is hard to go I worried that it was a mistake. The doctors told her that she would be okay to go it wouldn't change anything.

We decided maybe this is what we need to do if for no other reason for the the children. Stockton and Preston need to go have fun and do kid things. The others would be so disappointed if we didn't go.

We leave Wednesday. I will let you know how it goes Let's hope it can left everyone spirits!

Thanatophoric Dysplasia

Thanatophoric Dysplasia such a strange word. Can't even say it, yet it has turned our world upside down. My oldest daughter who is 22 weeks pregnant, baby was just diagnosed with this. This is a fatal condition. The baby will sometime abort but sometimes it will go full term but die shortly after. I have been reading on the internet and found some babies have lived, but it looks like it would have to be with medical intervention such as feeding tubes, support breathing etc.

How is my daughter doing? It's tough! But not for a moment would she consider aborting the baby. She understands our Heavenly Father's plan and knows that there is a purpose for this. This baby has already proven itself in life's trails. It must have been a very noble sprit of god in heaven. It only needed to come to earth to receive a body. What an honor to carry such a valiant sprit. But.. it still isn't easy.

Our youngest granddaughter went to Brandi the day that she found out that her baby had some form of Dwarfism and said "Aunt Brandi, I want so bad for Preston to be a dwarf!" She didn't know but it brought Brandi to tears. Strange that Snow White and the seven dwarfs came out now, McKenzie only wanted Preston to be a dwarf for Halloween.

So many little things happen like that each day. Siblings announcing they are having babies. Stockton said it is a lot like wanting something really bad for Christmas and watching everyone else get it. But they are happy for these other little spirits coming in to the world.

We must look at this as an opportunity to be Disciples of Christ and to declare him in all things and accept the challenge the best that we can. We will put all things in Gods hands and have total faith that there is a reason and god knows what we can handle even more than we know

Sam is such a rock in all of this. He always has treated Brandi like a queen and now he is so tender with her. I am so proud to have him as a son in law.

We appreciate those putting out the arms to us and especially Brandi and Sam and their little family. These are going to be an interesting few months

Service project

We had a great experience today. Our stake gather clothing and shoes for the refugees of the New haven Ward in central Salt Lake. They people were so happy and was delighted to receive the clothing and shoes that had been gathered. We helped the kids try to find shoes that would fit. Next year we need to contribute socks most of the kids didn't have socks. Also we could have used more boy shoes many went away without any. This is my neighbors Tami, Jolynn and Janette .

I got to go to Cake camp

I took classes from some amazing teachers. The second day of classes I forgot my camera. But i took a class from Colette Peters you probably have seen her books before. I love them! I also took a class from Toba Garrett and B. Keith Ryder. I am sure you have seen all of these guys on the Food Network or TLC Ultimate Cake Challenge either as a judge or a contestant. It was a lot of fun and I learned a ton of things.
I love Susan Carburry. I have lots of her videos. She had the fun table set up at the vendors room I bought a ton of stuff! More fun cakes.

An afternoon with the Nault boys and gal

The Nault's came over for a while on Saturday and I had a blast watching them jam to the music! Remember Disney Land Here we come!! We love to spend time at Bear Lake. It was short this year because I forgot and didn't book a cabin until there was almost nothing avilable so I had to take what we could take.

The Jensens' moved into their new house

Brandi and Sam bought a house that was a short sale. They got a great deal. They moved in with us, while they waited for everything to fall into place. The big day finally came. But when they got there things were not as we expected. The house had really been abused. So the troops came in, Daison took the lead and told us all what to do. We stripped the kitchen cabinets, repainted and finished them. We painted all the baseboards in the house. Washed windows, washed the walls, cleaned the bathrooms. Brandi had someone come in a clean the carpets and the tile. Sam patched up the walls. I couldn't believe what we got done in two days. We are so excited for them, But I am more impressed with what an awesome family I have to help eachother out like that.
